Case Study · Retail & E-commerce
An online counter for Romanys Ltd, Soho and Mayfair
Romanys Ltd supplies ironmongery, DIY materials and power tools from two Central London shops in Soho and Mayfair. Exibify designed and built an e-commerce website that works like the shop counter: searchable, organised by job and ready for trade customers.

The Project
About Romanys Ltd
The business serves tradespeople and contractors, the businesses that keep Soho and Mayfair running, and householders tackling jobs at home. Its range runs from door handles, locks and hinges to drills, hand tools, fixings, decorating supplies and household hardware. Orders can be delivered or collected from either shop, at 51 Brewer Street or 13 Shepherd Street. Prices can be viewed with or without VAT.

The Brief
What the website needed to do
A hardware range is wide, and customers often arrive with a SKU or a brand in mind, not a category. The shop needed fast search, sensible departments and prices shown the way trade and retail buyers each expect. It also had to support trade accounts, handle items sold on request, and keep the two physical stores visible so online and counter business support each other.
Our Approach
How we designed and built it

- 01
We organised the catalogue into six departments that mirror how products are asked for across the counter: ironmongery, power tools, hand tools, fixings, DIY and decorating, and hardware and household. Mega-menu panels list subcategories, such as door closers or wall plugs, so a buyer can reach a specific product in a click or two.
- 02
Search covers products, SKUs and brands from every page. A price toggle switches between including and excluding VAT, a small detail that matters to trade buyers. Accounts store order history, addresses and vouchers, while a trade-account application lets businesses agree terms directly. Products priced on request link to a quote request.
- 03
The store pages show both shops with addresses, phone lines and a visit-booking link, and checkout offers delivery or collection. A confident, heritage-minded visual style keeps the site distinct from large DIY chains, while brands and offers pages support everyday buying.
