A trade-first website for Step Ahead Foods
Step Ahead Foods produces and distributes African, Caribbean and Asian foods from Stratford, London. Exibify designed and built its website to show the range with some personality and to turn trade interest into wholesale enquiries.

The Project
About Step Ahead Foods
The company supplies retailers, restaurants and wholesalers across the UK. Its featured products include Ethiopian berbere, jasmine rice, aged basmati, Jamaican-style jerk seasoning, egusi seeds and coconut milk. It talks about sourcing from farm cooperatives, quality checks along the supply chain and packaging methods that keep flavour, and it lists HACCP and Food Standards Agency registration in the footer.

The Brief
What the website needed to do
This is a business-to-business seller, so the site is not a shop. It needed to make a buyer feel the range is authentic and well run, show enough products to start a conversation, and put a wholesale enquiry in front of them without friction. It also had to carry a story about heritage and sourcing that distinguishes the brand from generic cash-and-carry suppliers.
Our Approach
How we designed and built it

- 01
We led with a warm, food-led hero and two clear choices: explore the collection or make a wholesale enquiry. The sections that follow tell the heritage story in four short points, then move into a catalogue grid in which each product has a category, a name and a one-line description of its character.
- 02
Instead of prices and a basket, the page ends in partner testimonials, a short note on logistics and a wholesale form asking for name, email, business name, phone and the nature of the enquiry. The Book a Consultation button in the header routes to the same place, so every path ends in one conversion.
- 03
Photography and colour take cues from the spices and grains themselves, using warm earthy tones that suit heritage food. Product cards are deliberately simple, with a category tag and short description, which keeps the catalogue light and makes it clear that full lists and pricing are handled through wholesale conversations.
